The dramatic high-end new build home Hillside was built at a below average construction cost.
Well-designed buildings can also reduce annual energy demand. In its first year of operation, Hillside an all-electric home (no gas or oil) with a large array of south-facing solar panels generated roughly double the energy it used, exporting (selling back to grid) nearly three times the energy it imported (paid for) - resulting in an annual profit.
